Piyush Thakkar (b.1979) completed his BFA and MFA in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda. He is a poet, painter and art writer. He has written and published several essays on the appreciation of art in Gujarati and English and has presented papers on the issues of art and literature in regional and national seminars. He has been writing a monthly feature on art in a literary journal Parab and contributed for an year a regular column of art review titled Art-View in a Gujarati fortnight news-magazine, Feelings. His poems have been featured in various literary journals such as Indian Literature, The Baroda Pamphlet, Muse India, Yapan Chitra, Lokmat Samachar: Deep Bhav, Samay ki Saakhi and Duniya In Dino. Lakhun Chhun… is his first collection of poems in Gujarati published by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi (2015). He has been awarded the prestigious Raza Fellowship for writing a critical biography of V. S. Gaitonde. Piyush is currently working as an Assistant Professor, at the Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU and concurrently associated with Balvant Parekh Centre for General Semantics and Other Human Sciences, Vadodara.
